Fly yourself - Yes, in our lifetime

Flying is not something of your day to day, but that's not a thought the Employees from Terrafugia share. They have been showing their first prototype since 2006 and plan to sell the first in 2009. The company that has been taking orders since it's first prototype wants to go into the large-scale production by 2012.

The idea is to create a Drive-able Plane, if the unit will wait less than 1320 pounds, it's users would be eligible to drive it and fly it using the Sport Pilot license from the EAA.

The Transition vehicle idea brings several issues while on the design arena. Planes are high cost, the vehicle should wait less than 1320 pounds, bad weather would not make this transport fun at all and the transit plan from going to the local airport to arriving and leaving from the destination airport.

If everything goes well, we might see this baby flying in 3-5 years and we all might just need to start the Sport Pilot License training.
